Typewriter

Guess what? My wife decided to spend a very small amount of money on typewriters. She bought a his and hers model. Guess who get's which?

A couple of my pen pals will be getting typed letters this week. Specifically the letters are going to The Snail Mailer and The Post Muse.

Wilson decided to get in on the fun!

  1. Those new-fangled contraptions look pretty snazzy! Are they manual or electric?

    1. All electric. My son, pictured above, asked if they had batteries before the plug in was developed.

  2. Hallo Troy!

Ooh I'd be most delighted to receive a letter on one of those sometime!! :) You are living out my dream! I too, want to pick up a vintage typewriter and use it for a heap of things, but not limited too: novels and correspondances!! Eek. How exciting for you!! My favourite models are in the 1930s and 1940s. I might have to dip into the 50s to get a workhorse one though! Laughs. Which model is this!?

  3. Hi Jorie, The top machine is a Smith Corona, circa 1960s and the bottom machine is a Sears The Scholar, circa early 1980's. It is amazing how quickly one can fill a sheet of paper using them. It gives me a real sense of accomplishment to hear the ding, hit the return lever and fill a page.
